How Does FSMA Compliance Affect Loaders

“Loaders” are anyone who loads food onto a motor or rail vehicle for transportation.

Under the new regulations, loaders must review written specifications provided by the shipper and ensure, before loading, that:

1.      Food not completely enclosed by a container is being loaded onto a vehicle or other transportation equipment that is in the appropriate sanitary condition for the transport of food.

2.      Food requiring temperature control for safety is being loaded into a refrigerated cold storage compartment or container that is adequately prepared for transporting food and that has been properly pre-cooled if necessary.
